Mark Nickle, B.S., COO

Chief Operations Officer

Mr. Nickle earned his degree at Texas A & M University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He has worked in the laboratory industry for 34 plus years with a combined focus on food laboratory and toxicology laboratory testing with an emphasis on quality in clinical and forensic testing.

In his time in the food laboratory arena, he managed all aspects of the laboratory, including the food and agriculture testing departments. With his time in the toxicology laboratory field, he has managed all areas of testing.

Mr. Nickle is responsible for all operations of MD Diagnostic Labs. His successful management philosophy and strategy traits ensures that the providers and clients have accurate and expedient results.

Patricia Jeffreys, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Jeffreys is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She is also a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Jeffreys is CAP-certified in Breast Prognostic Indicators and works with clinicians to ensure the patients are receiving the best care for their diagnosis. In addition, she is knowledgeable in pulmonary pathology and she has a special interest in GI pathology.

During her years at Brooke Army Medical Center she presented the pathology findings for cases at the monthly multi-discipline pulmonary conference. Dr. Jeffreys is an excellent general pathologist with over 26 years of experience.

Najmuddin Khaja. Ph.D., NRCC

Laboratory Director

Dr. Khaja Najmuddin received his doctorate from Kakatiya University in Telangana, India. Dr. Najmuddin has a State of New York Certificate of Qualification in Toxicology chemistry. He was the Senior Technical Supervisor at Lab Director at NX Prenatal. He developed proteomics assays on LCMS for preterm birth markers, which are now used nationwide.

Dr. Najmuddin has over 19 years of leadership experience, with specialties in immunoassay IVD kits reagents manufacturing and quality control of Beckmann Coulter top selling products. He provides technical, scientific, and administrative direction and for best practices, standardization, and process review.

David J. Wells, PhD, DABCC, FACB

Technical Director

Dr. Wells earned his Doctorate in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University, Tennessee. He did postdoctoral research in Strasbourg, France and worked as an Associate Consultant in the Department of Cardiovascular Research at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

He served as a Senior Scientist with NASA Peer Review Services in Washington, DC where he administered the peer review process for clinical, physiology, and biomedical research proposals submitted to the NASA life sciences division.

For seventeen years Dr. Wells was Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of South Alabama Medical School along with Directing the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory for the University of South Alabama Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Wells is certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, the National Registry of Certified Chemists (Clinical Chemistry).
